Matt Parker and the Deacons (MPD) represents the leader and the band’s musical authenticity. As church deacons hold the mystery of faith in pure conscience, similarly, MPD hold the mystery of music.

They are true ministers of music whose style is an eclectic mix of bluesy alternative, funk, and melodic rock with hints of soul.

They are also extremely unique in that MPD do not use tracks, loopers or any other audible fabrications to back them up. All of their sound is 100% authentic and live.
